Tender Detail : |
Background: The Soil Matters Project is part of the Indo-German Development Cooperation, implemented by GIZ to promote sustainable soil management in India. It addresses critical issues of soil degradation through agroecology, regenerative agriculture, and nature-based solutions, contributing to India’s commitments under the UNCCD and the SDGs. Aligned with the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership, the project supports agricultural sustainability, climate resilience, and ecosystem health. It focuses on three action fields: 1. Scalability of Sustainable Land Management Practices 2. Policy and Framework Enhancement 3. South-South Knowledge Exchange By strengthening innovations, policies, and knowledge sharing, Soil Matters aims to transform soil health practices for long-term environmental and food security outcomes.
Objectives:The objective of this baseline study is to generate a comprehensive understanding of the current status of agricultural practices, soil health, water management, climate resilience, and socio-economic conditions of farming communities in selected districts. This foundational assessment will identify key gaps, opportunities, and stakeholder dynamics to inform the design and implementation of targeted interventions that promote sustainable soil management and agroecological practices. The study will also establish benchmarks for monitoring project outcomes and guiding policy and capacity-building efforts under the Soil Matters Project.
